What Is The ADT Program and How Can I Use It?

"ADT" is short for "Automated Flex Benefit Transaction". EBS has developed a system, for COBRA participants and Retiree plan participants, to allow for the automatic Flex Benefit of a checking or savings account to pay a premium for benefit plan coverage for a plan that EBS administers.

If you are a participant in a COBRA or Retiree benefit program, and you currently send a check or money order to EBS to pay your premiums, you can now authorize EBS to Flex Benefit your checking or savings account on a monthly basis. This will allow you to save yourself the hassle of making out that check each month, trying to remember when that premium is due, and you can save the added expense of mailing that check or money order. EBS will Flex Benefit your account only for the premium amount due to maintainyour benefit program through your employer (or former employer in the case of COBRA), to assist you in the timely payment of premiums.

Advantages for participating:

  • There is no fee for this service from EBS.
  • You save time and money! You will not have to take the time necessary write a check, or get a money order, and you will save the cost of postage and envelopes every month that the premium is due.
  • You select the day of the month you prefer to have your account Flex Benefited. Currently, EBS is providing this service on the 1st of the month, the 6th, the 14th and the 20th. This was designed to meet the payment needs of the majority of our client accounts.
  • EBS will only Flex Benefit your account for the premium amount that you owe on your account. If you dispute the amount Flex Benefited, contact an EBS representative immediately for resolution.
  • You can change your banking or contact information using this same form to keep your account updated.
  • You can count on this payment method to allow for the timely payment of premiums. For those that have received a late notice, or perhaps faced the possibility of termination of benefits for a lost or forgotten payment, this is a great opportunity to relieve you of that stress.
  • You can cancel the authorization at any time by sending EBS notification that you wish to do so. Forms are available on our web site or through EBS Customer Service.

Please read the entire authorization form available on our web site as "ADT enrollment/change form" under Member Services; initial the first page and sign and date the last page. Keep a copy for your records. Send the original to EBS with a copy of a voided check (this is required to verify an active account in your name) to the address listed on the form. If you have any questions, feel free to contact EBS Customer Service. Customer Service can be reached by e-mail at custserv@ebsbenefits.com or by calling 800-229-7683, Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 5pm PST.
